1 fire chief for Butler City and Butler Township?

BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. – Talk is in the air after rumors have spread that there may be a fire chief for both Butler City and Butler Township fire department’s. There would be 1 fire chief for 4 fire departments.

According to reports, a municipal agreement has been in the works for a while now to share jurisdictions with one another. The officials stated they feel the taxpayers would have a better outcome.

The final vote would take place in July, but both the city and township have wrote their respective ordinances to make this final. According to the reports, 1 fire chief would manage:

  • Butler City Fire Department
  • Butler Township Fire DIstrict
  • Mercer Road VFD
  • South Butler VFD

If you recall, in the Butler Township merger – Greenwood Station 5 was terminated, but Meridian Station 3 and Lyndora Station 4 joined together.
