BREAKING: Car slams into Butler City police car; officer injured

BUTLER CITY, Pa. – A police lieutenant was injured in a “t-bone” crash on Saturday afternoon.

The 2-vehicle crash happened around 2pm. at the intersection of South Main Street and Cunningham Street. Lt. Rensel was behind the wheel of an undercover police car while responding to a call with lights and sirens activated when Crystal Raab, 34, slammed into the side of the police car.

Raab was driving a 2011 Ford Escape when she slammed into the passenger side of the cruiser. The police car was in the left lane.

Rensel was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. He has since been released.

State police are handling the crash investigation. It is unknown if Raab will face any charges.
