BREAKING: Hazmat team called to Petrolia acid spill

PETROLIA, Pa. – Butler County Hazardous Material Team 100 was dispatched to Route 268 near Petrolia for an unknown chemical spill.

Hazmat teams have started to cleanup the chemical spill around 5 pm tonight, but crews are still unsure what the chemical is. No chemical plant in Petrolia produces this chemical that is currently located along Route 268.

The team said the chemical is not flammable, but it is acidic to some extent. Since the chemical is unknown at this time, crews are unsure how to proceed further.

Up to 60-gallons have allegedly leaked out of a vehicle that was stopped in a turn around just off fo the roadway, but they could not find the vehicle.

It is unknown what crews are doing currently.
