Man flown from backhoe accident near Sarver

A man was critically injured when he was thrown out of a runaway excavator

According to police sources, an unidentified male was critically injured near Sarver on Howes Run Road during Wednesday afternoon of this week.

Reports indicate the man was operating a backhoe when the backhoe began to slip, and started to travel down a steep hillside. The operator could not gain traction to stop the heavy machinery.

As the machine traveled down the hill, the backhoe hit a tree so forceful that the operator was thrown out of the cabin area.

LifeFlight landed in “Peter B’s” parking lot, to where he was flown to Allegheny General Hospital.

No status update was readily available as of Friday.
